Last week I visited southern Alabama…a rough choice heat-wise in mid-August. The trip was hosted by my buddy Haynes Shelton, one of the editors of the North American Whitetail magazine and the Outdoor Sportsmen Group, to help cull wild hogs tearing up some beautiful farm and grazing habitat for whitetails in the area. I always love the hunting life as it is so reminiscent of my tactical life in the Navy, but what truly struck me was the overall and undeniable “southern hospitality”.
